Acoustic Modelling SWAM engine brings Instrumental Sounds to ROLI Interfaces

Roli, the company that brought MPE (Midi Polyphonic Expression) to the masses, now brings pitch-perfect, physically modelled instruments to the Roli interfaces. The instruments are created by Audio Modelling using their SWAM engine and include: flutes, strings, woodwinds, strings, saxophones, brass quartet and treble quartet. The SWAM (Synchronous Waves Acoustic Modeling) Engine is a modelling technology that combines concepts of Physical Modeling, Behavioral Modeling with the MultiVector (synchronous phase) Sampling technique. You can read more about it here.

The instruments are playable through Roli’s NOISE application (available on iOS and android) which comes as a free download. All of Roli’s hardware instruments are automatically mapped to the NOISE application upon connection so there is no setup required. While it may take traditional keyboardists some time to get used to the playing style, one mastered the sound and expression is like nothing else on a keyed instrument.

With regard to the release Roli have said the following:

Today we’re celebrating the launch of SWAM Flutes, a collection of eight flute sounds. But we’re also celebrating the ever-growing collection of SWAM soundpacks which includes SWAM Strings, SWAM Woodwinds, and SWAM Saxophones.

These unbelievably lifelike sounds are purely digital, and they’re created by the Italian maestros at Audio Modelling who created the SWAM engine (read their story here). We’ve brought these sounds exclusively to the NOISE app, so you can play them on a mobile device or any Seaboard Block or Lightpad Block that’s paired with NOISE.

The soundpacks can be purchased for $9.99 (US) via the NOISE Soundpack Store.
