Arturia and Native Instruments have officially teamed up, announcing that the KeyLab Mk3, KeyLab Essential Mk3, and MiniLab 3 MIDI controllers will soon support Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) integration via Komplete Kontrol. This is a big move for anyone working with virtual instruments and effects across multiple software platforms.
Through this partnership, users of supported Arturia controllers will be able to browse and control thousands of NKS-compatible plugins — including synths, samplers, and effects — all with intuitive parameter mapping and hands-on control through the Komplete Kontrol software.
Why This Matters
Native Instruments has long been known for pushing the boundaries of integrated hardware/software solutions. From the Komplete Kontrol keyboards to Maschine, the NI ecosystem has always prioritised tight integration and performance-ready setups. But until now, full NKS control was exclusive to Native Instruments’ own controllers. The new NKS Hardware Partner Program is opening the door for third-party MIDI controllers to offer that same tight-knit experience — and Arturia is leading the charge.
“This reinforces our commitment to an open and connected music industry,” says Simon Cross, Chief Product Officer at Native Instruments. “We’re allowing musicians to explore sound without workflow limitations.”
Why Arturia?
We’ve always appreciated Arturia’s approach to MIDI controllers — tactile, flexible, and built for musicians. The KeyLab MK3 series is loaded with assignable controls, high-quality keybeds, and solid DAW integration. The MiniLab 3 might be small, but it’s one of the best portable MIDI controllers in its class. With this new NKS support, these controllers become even more versatile — making them ideal for producers and performers who live in hybrid hardware/software setups.
Arturia’s Product Director Martin Dutasta shared:
“Arturia is committed to designing universal MIDI controllers, built to inspire creativity without limits. We’re thrilled to partner with Native Instruments on NKS integration. This initiative brings greater connectivity and a more fluid workflow, benefiting creators who rely on both ecosystems.”
Honestly, I’m excited to see a brand like Arturia — who already make such well-designed MIDI controllers — join the NKS partner list. It reinforces their position as one of the best in the game and only adds to their already impressive offering.
Free Komplete 15 Select
To sweeten the deal, newly registered users of supported Arturia controllers will get a free license for Komplete 15 Select — Native Instruments’ curated bundle of instruments, effects, and tools. It includes synths like Massive X, sampled instruments like Studio Drummer, and essential effects like Replika XT and Solid Bus Compressor. You can choose from three genre-focused editions: Beats, Band, or Electronic.

This bundle doesn’t just give you sounds — it’s also your entry into the wider Komplete ecosystem, with upgrade options available if you want to dive deeper into Komplete 15 Standard or Ultimate later on.
With this move, Arturia and Native Instruments are making life easier for producers and musicians who want integrated, no-fuss workflows. It’s a great step toward a more open and connected music tech ecosystem — and one that adds real value to already-excellent controllers. We’ll keep our ears to the ground for when the firmware update drops, but it’s safe to say this is one collaboration we’re fully on board with.
