ESP’s 87’ series models get a facelift with the electrifying Rainbow Crackle finish. The Eclipse ’87, Eclipse ’87 NT, M-1 Custom ‘87, Mirage Deluxe ‘87, and Surveyor ’87 bass have all been finished with this era-correct shred-tastic paint job. ESP has never held back when it comes to standing out from the crowd, and this new addition of finishes to the 87’ series range is no exception.
Celebrating ESP’s rich history and contribution to metal and rock players all around the world the rainbow crackle finish is recreated from ESP’s 1987 catalogue and boy does it capture the essence of the era!
Based on the original ESP M1 model, the LTD M1 Custom is loaded with a single Seymour Duncan Distortion humbucker and an EMG PA-2 boost switch which is push-pull from the volume knob. The M1 Custom has an alder body, a three-piece maple neck with a Macassar ebony fingerboard, Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo and 24 frets with neck-thru construction to reach those high notes.
This guitar is also available in Black, Dark Metallic Blue, Candy Apple Red and Rainbow Crackle finish.
Meanwhile, the LTD M1 Deluxe is available with the same Seymour Duncan Distortion humbucker in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail in the neck, coil splitting is available again with individual volume and tone knobs and a three-way switch. Aside from the Rainbow Crackle finish, the M1 Deluxe is available in Pearl Pink, Turquoise and Rainbow Crackle finishes. This guitar comes with an alder body, a Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo, a three-piece maple neck with a Macassar ebony fingerboard and 22 extra-jumbo frets.
The LTD Eclipse 87’’ is based on the original ESP Eclipse TE shape and is available with or without a Floyd Rose (without on the NT model) Both guitars come in the new rainbow crackle finish, Pearl White, Turquoise (NT model only) and Black (Floyd Rose model only) colourways. Both Eclipse 87’’ models feature a mahogany body, and a three-piece maple neck sporting a Macassar Ebony fingerboard with 24 extra-jumbo frets.
Electronically, it offers a set of Seymour Duncan ’59 (neck) and JB (bridge) pickup set with original style bobbins and a push-pull control to split the coils.
The LTD Surveyor 87’’ 4 string bass is available in black and pearl white finishes, as well as the spectacular Rainbow Crackle, finish. This low-end beast features an alder body and a maple neck with a Macassar fingerboard and 21 extra-jumbo frets. There’s also a Gotoh bridge, and Seymour Duncan Vintage Jazz (bridge) and Seymour Duncan Vintage P (neck) pickups, with individual volume, Balance and tone knobs.
