The pandemic caused the podcast scene to explode with everyone starting their own podcast. The concept of a large-format podcast mixer has been around for a while with Tascam’s Mixcast 4 and Rode’s Rodecaster I and II, however, Focusrite have taken this concept and compressed it into a simple and intuitive audio interface.
The Vocasters have features including automatic gain control and Bluetooth connectivity for phone calls. The autogain function is especially useful for beginners who have no experience with gain staging as it will take the guesswork out of recording. They also have 4 EQ presets to enhance vocal recording and a mute button for the microphone input, not often seen on audio interfaces but makes perfect sense for podcasters. There are 2 variations; Vocaster One with one mic input and Vocaster Two with 2 mic inputs.
