ESP has confirmed that an LTD version of Kirk Hammett’s ESP V – suitably titled the LTD KH-V – is officially on the way, which came as a pleasant surprise during this year’s NAMM expo.
The Kirk Hammett LTD KH-V is a production version of a model the musician has been using since 2019 and slightly offset V hints at ESP’s USA V-II model, except for a pickguard and a twin humbucker setup, it has a slightly more traditional design.
There will be two finishes based on the trio of 2019 models Hammett had made. The Metallic Gold finish will be joined by Black Sparkle and Red Sparkle.
The LTD-V will be offered in three enticing finishes: Black Sparkle, Red Sparkle, and Metallic Gold, and is believed to be based on 3 distinct custom shop ESP Vs developed by Hammett in 2019 which appear to be eerily similar to their predecessors, with colour-matched finishes, EMG pickups, and a slightly offset V shape.
“The ESP USA shop manufactured three offset V guitars for Kirk in 2019, and this instrument is the first sample of the LTD version of that model,” stated a plaque next to the three models.
Expect the guitars to arrive next year.
