On Tour with Dimmu Borgir

Norwegian symphonic Black Metal Band Dimmu Borgir were recently on tour in Australia, and we were lucky enough to get some quick photos of guitarists Silenoz & Dalder’s live rigs at their show in Melbourne. Their set up is simple, but extremely effective. See below!

Blackstar Series One 100

Blackstar have only been a company for 11 years and have made a huge name for themselves. They cater for guitarists of any level and genre.

The Blackstar Series One is a 100 watt, EL34 powered amplifier that sets new standards for clean and crunch tones. It features two channels with four footswitchable modes and has Blackstar’s classic ISF knob, which can give your tone either a UK or USA characteristic.

Blackstar Series One 412 Cabinets

Paired with the Series One 100 were a couple Blackstar Series One 4×12 cabinets. They sounded massive with the Series One, and filled the venue very well.

Kemper Profiling Amp

The Kemper has been an industry standard since its inception. You’re able to capture the signal of your amp, cabinet and pedals and store it in to the Kemper, to then use it live or in the studio. In recent times you’ll find bands exclusively using a Kemper, as it’s one of the few digital units that sounds close to the ‘real thing’ and is very easy to ship around.

It’s somewhat uncommon seeing both Kemper and valve head in one setup, but would be great in case of any malfunctions and using a wide variety of tones.

Peavey 6505+

The Peavey 6505+ is a later version of the original 5150/5150II models that were created in part with Eddie Van Halen. Over the past 40 years there has been a different models of these amps, as they have been named one of the most essential amps for metal.

The 6505+ features six 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6GC power amp tubes, with presence and resonance controls and three-band EQ for each channel.
