This Must Be The Place – Presented by Music Victoria & The Push
When: Monday 1st – Wednesday 10th October
Where: Various venues around regional Victoria
Calling all regional musicians with an interest in expanding their social media reach and learning how to better market their unique brand! This series of free workshops presented by Music Victoria and The Push, in collaboration with Parlour and Bolster will provide regional artists the opportunity to come together to learn about ways to engage with a fan base in the digital age.

CIRCULATE: Songwriters and Top Liners
When: Tuesday 2nd October, 6-9pm
Where: Bloodhound Bar, Brisbane
CIRCULATE is a monthly music industry event put on by QMusic which aims to give artists and managers the chance to ask questions of industry professionals and network with their peers in a casual setting. This month’s event focuses on song writing, and will feature industry professionals from 4ZZZ, BEMAC, I Heart Songwriting Club and special guest songwriters that are yet to be announced. Stay tuned!

Melbourne Music Bus Tour
When: Saturday 6th October, 11am & 2pm
Where: The Rock n Roll Bus! Melbourne
Melbourne is a city known for its rich music history and sordid industry secrets. This quirky bus tour allows music fans to explore the underbelly of the famous Melbourne music scene, with special access to dimly lit band rooms, recording studios and venue back stages. Acclaimed musicologist Bruce Milne hosts the tour but you never know who might also pop onto the bus along the way… Special guests in the past have included Cash Savage, Dave Graney and Adalita.

Darebin Music Feast 2018 Opening Party
When: Thursday 18th October, 7-11pm
Where: Darebin Arts Centre, Melbourne
October is a very exciting month for residents of Darebin with the amazing Music Feast taking place across a number of venues. The Feast features heaps of free events and workshops, as well as a number of incredible ticketed shows. The Opening Party is a perfect indicator of the quality we can expect from this festival, featuring the debut public screening of the film ‘Her Sound, Her Story’ which documents the personal experiences, histories and contributions of women in the Australian music industry. Following the screening is an exciting line up of diverse music curated by ThickWave and LISTEN including Alice Skye, Girl Zone, Jesswar and WAHE.

Music on my Mind: The Dress-Up Rave
When: Friday 19th October
Where: Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
A rave with a message! This party curated by Rave Reviewz, a tastemaker guide to Sydney’s underground electronic scene, is turning the focus onto mental health in the music scene. All profits from the event will go towards charities such as Support Act, BeyondBlue and Black Dog Institute, all of which target mental health awareness and support for those affected by mental health issues. The party will back to back sets by crews from some of the most exciting up-and-coming house and techno scenes in Sydney including Andy Ef, Aaiste, Ricky Cooper and Hoten.

Todd-a-Roo: ToddStock 2018
When: Monday 22nd – Wednesday 24th October
Where: Cockatoo Island, Sydney
Mythical psych-rock legend Todd Rundgren is turning 70 and has invited fans to celebrate his birthday on Cockatoo Island with a three-day event; part camping festival, part music camp for die-hard fans. The event features a Q&A with Todd, tickets to an exclusive rehearsal show, and even a campfire singalong… What a perfectly oddball party to celebrate the wizard and true star that is Todd Rundgren.

Echo Tone Guitar Maintenance Clinic
When: Wednesday 24th October, 7-8pm
Where: Echo Tone Guitars, Melbourne
The beautiful angels at Echo Tone Guitars in Northcote are opening their doors for this after-hours event that is a part of the Darebin Music Feast, to give musicians young and old a masterclass in guitar maintenance. Learn the fundamentals of guitar care including restringing, detailing and fretboard conditioning and also receive a free set of strings!

Studio to Stage: Ableton Live session with Memphis LK (SAATSUMA) + Wahe
When: Saturday 27th October, 3-4.30pm
Where: Northcote Town Hall, Melbourne
Another cool event as part of the Darebin Music Feast, this workshop will be run by two exciting electronic producers Memphis LK (SAATSUMA) and Ripley Kavara (WAHE, Kandere), and will take participants into their creative process of taking songs from the studio into a live performance. Focused on Ableton Live, the sessions will provide guidance on arrangements, triggering, programming drums and looping. Perfect for beginners or for those already using Ableton Live but wanting to learn more!

Darebin Music Feast Closing Party
When: Sunday 28th October, 2pm – late
Where: Multiple venues (Little Eastment Street Car Park, Northcote Social Club, Bar 303), Melbourne
A huge closing event for a huge festival! And free! This all-day party features way too many amazing bands to list them all here but highlights include Banoffee, Dianas, Hextape, Jaala, Jade Imagine, Jess Cornelius (Teeth and Tongue), RVG, Loose Tooth, Parsnip; the list goes on and on and on!
