We have been fortunate enough to get “hands on” with the New KORG D1 Portable Digital Piano. This new piano has yet to due to arrive in Australia, but what we can tell you is that this new addition to the KORG stable of pianos, delivers on all counts for pianists and keyboardists of any genre.
The D1 is a super compact and affordable digital piano, that features Korg’s flagship Japanese made RH3 weighted hammer action and comes with 30 on board instrument sounds. This combination of portability and quality at a breakthrough price, (expect to pay $849.00AUD) makes the D1 the perfect choice for discerning piano players, whether on stage, or at home.
We found a wide range of acoustic and electric piano sounds plus useful additional sounds such as organs and strings, that provides everything you need in a professional stage piano. We also found that two sounds can be easily layered together by simply selecting both sounds simultaneously.
There is a pair of ¼” audio outputs which provides easy connection to any mixing console, and its slim lightweight construction make transportation a breeze. (Weight 16kg)
The D1 also makes for a fantastic midi controller for any studio environment with its high quality RH3 weighted hammer action. There are Standard MIDI connectors that will provide connectivity to your computer based system, or hardware module.
You will definitely be impressed by the amazing feeling the weighted hammer action provides, and we have found this to be a serious sounding stand alone piano. So if you are practicing at home, this is compact enough to fit anywhere in the house, and if you are a the gigging musician, in the back seat of your car.
There is also a piano style damper pedal, and music rest provided.
