The JBL Professional EON 600 Series of powered loudspeakers represents amazing flexibility for both artists and sound technicians looking to build a rig that can handle everything from a solo act at an in-store showcase to a full band performance in a 500 capacity room. With three sizes of the mid-high box and a matching subwoofer, this range is perfect for scaling up as your success grows, with fantastic tools on-board to help you adapt and learn as you go.

Before we get into how you can use the EON 600 to grow your PA inventory, here are the vital stats on the line-up:

This is a two-way with a 10” woofer and a 1-inch compression driver. It’s powered by a 1000W amp and produces 124 dB max SPL with a frequency response of 52 Hz – 20 kHz. With its small size and wedge profile, it’s perfect for use as a stage monitor, or as FOH in small venues. Horizontal dispersion is an extremely wide 110 degrees.

The 612 is a two-way with a 12” woofer with a 1-inch compression driver, powered by a 1000W amp producing 126 dB max SPL with a frequency response of 52 Hz – 20 kHz. It’s perfect as FOH for mid-sized venues, and for set-ups on bigger stages where more powerful wedges are needed. Horizontal dispersion is a wide 100 degrees.

The 615 is a two-way with a 15” woofer with a 1-inch compression driver, powered by a 1000W amp producing 127 dB max SPL with a frequency response of 39 Hz – 20 kHz. A pair of these will provide great FOH coverage for mid-sized venues, especially when paired with subs. Horizontal dispersion is 90 degrees.

The 618S is a single 18” subwoofer producing 134 dB max SPL with a range of 31 Hz – 150Hz. Powered by a 1000W amp, a pair of these run with the 612s or 615s at FOH will ensure deep and powerful bass extension for any genre of music.Scaling Up - Build your PA with JBL EON 600

All of the EON 600 Series have on-board DSP that includes a three-band parametric EQ with full control over gain, frequency and Q, high and low pass filters, delay, access to the signal mixer, and the ability to recall factory and user presets. All of this processing can be easily controlled via the EON 600 Connect app for iOS and Android, which connects via Bluetooth and also functions as a simple master volume.

Application 1 – The Solo and Duo Gig

From the 610 to the 615, all of the EON top boxes are transportable, with safe manual handling via intelligently designed handles. Weighing from 11 to 17 kg, all models are a safe and legal one-person lift.

Both of the inputs on the 610s, 612s, and 615s can accept mic or line sources and mix them together, meaning a singer/songwriter with vocal mic playing guitar or keys, MC with a backing track or duo can use just one speaker on a stand to cover a pretty wide range of spaces. Due to the specially designed waveguides, coverage is wide and coherent across the models, so a single EON 600 in a corner is more than adequate for small solo or duo gigs.

Application 2 – Getting Bigger

It’s amazing how many gigs can be covered by a decent pair of powered speakers at FOH and a couple of wedges. A power trio or DJ could do most of their gigs with a pair of EON615s at FOH and two EON610 or EON612s on stage. Due to the EON615s extended frequency response, subwoofers can be left out for most gigs, unless extreme bass is required by the genre of music.

Saving time and messing around for the band and engineer, the EON Connect app can connect to four EONs simultaneously via Bluetooth, making set-up and tuning from a tablet a breeze. The ability to walk the room and stage, hear the response of each speaker and tweak it via the EQ while standing in front of it is invaluable – once you’ve got wireless DSP control you never want to go back!Scaling Up - Build your PA with JBL EON 600

Application 3 – Big enough for almost anything

As a band or small production company, if you had a two EON615s and two EON618S you could deploy for FOH, with either three EON610 or EON612s on stage as foldback, there wouldn’t be many rooms you couldn’t play. Even if you had to extend past the coverage limits of this system, you could easily get your hands on an extra pair of EON615s to array or stack, and add two more EON618S for earth-shaking bass extension.

The other advantage of this system as a production inventory owner is the fact you can break it down and send it on multiple small gigs simultaneously for maximum ROI. A pair of EON610s could be covering a corporate function while your EON615s and EON618Ss are out with a DJ, and your EON612s are functioning as announce speakers at a community event. From a rental point of view, they’re durable, simple, easy-to-use, and extremely reliable.
