Universal Audio’s LUNA 2.0 update delivers long-requested features like ARA support, Volt 876 integration, upgraded Instrument Detection, and powerful workflow tools, while LUNA Pro 2.0 adds Hardware Inserts, expanded plug-ins, and integrated vocal editing, marking one of the DAW’s biggest updates yet.
Key Features

- Enhanced Instrument Detection with smart icons and colour coding
- Hardware Inserts for analog outboard integration (LUNA Pro only)
- 29 bundled UAD plug-ins and instruments in LUNA Pro 2.0
When LUNA first arrived, it promised to bring the tactile feel of analog recording into a seamless, modern digital environment. With the launch of version 2.0, Universal Audio is delivering on that promise in a big way, merging creative speed, precision editing, and smart integration for both free and Pro users.
“LUNA has always been about capturing the feel of analog recording in a modern, digital space,” says Lev Perrey, VP of Product at Universal Audio. “LUNA 2.0 builds on that vision with faster editing, smarter integration, and even more of the analog character that creators love.”
LUNA 2.0 — What’s New in the Free Version
The free version of LUNA 2.0 brings several of the most requested features from the community, dramatically improving workflow and organisation.
ARA Support brings seamless integration of third-party tools like Melodyne directly within the LUNA timeline. It’s a huge step for anyone working on vocal comping, tuning, or time correction, with no bouncing, exporting, or offline editing needed.
Volt 876 Integration adds direct software control of Universal Audio’s newest USB audio interface. You can adjust preamp gain, manage cue mixes, and access Assistive Auto-Gain directly from inside LUNA. Every setting is stored and recalled with your session, keeping your workflow tightly synced between hardware and software.

Upgraded Instrument Detection takes the guesswork out of large sessions. It automatically assigns icons based on track type, colour-codes them, and sets warp algorithms accordingly. It’s a small touch that makes a big difference when juggling multiple synth and drum tracks.
LUNA Pro 2.0 — Built for the Full Studio Workflow
For users running LUNA Pro, version 2.0 turns the DAW into a complete studio powerhouse with deeper analog integration, expanded tools, and more plug-ins than ever.
Hardware Inserts allow you to route audio through external compressors, EQs, and effects hardware with automatic delay compensation. You can patch in your favourite 1176 or analog reverb mid-mix with full recall and latency sync built in.
Expanded UAD Plug-In & Instrument Library now includes 29 UAD plug-ins and instruments, from analog emulations to creative production tools, along with LUNA Extensions like Neve Summing and Studer Tape modules. It’s a serious studio bundle for the price.
Included ARA Tools such as Celemony Melodyne Essential and Noiseworks DynAssist Lite make deep vocal editing and dynamic processing workflows possible right inside the mix window.

ChordAxe Lite is a new MIDI effect that helps you build chord progressions and harmonic sequences on the fly. Designed to assist songwriters and producers, it streamlines composition and opens up creative exploration for those less versed in music theory.
Availability & Pricing
LUNA 2.0 and LUNA Pro 2.0 are available now for macOS and Windows, with full support for ASIO and Core Audio interfaces. No Universal Audio hardware is required.
LUNA Pro 2.0 is priced at $199 USD MAP, with an introductory offer of $129 USD for a limited time. Existing LUNA Pro users can upgrade for free until December 31, 2025.
A Clear Signal for the Future
With this release, Universal Audio isn’t just refining LUNA, it’s turning it into a serious, open platform for modern producers. From seamless ARA integration to real analog I/O workflows, LUNA 2.0 is now both a creative space and a mix engineer’s playground.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to give it a go, this is the one. It’s rare to see a DAW evolve so naturally, and even rarer to see one that still feels designed by musicians.
