Here’s a really simple way to split your audio into high, mid and low frequency bands using Ableton Live’s Multiband Dynamics audio effect and the Audio Effect Rack functionality. This is really handy for song elements like bass-lines where you might want to keep the low end mono but apply stereo effects to higher frequncies for added depth – but there are endless possibilities and lots of room for experimentation.
Simply drag a default Multiband Dynamics audio effect onto your desired track, group the effect to itself to open up the effect rack options, duplicate the chain twice and solo a different frequency band on each chain. Name each chain to prevent any confusion down the line and you’re good to go!
