Fender Announce New Flagship American Professional II Series of Evolved Classics

Fender has just announced an update to their flagship American Professional range, representing the highest quality off-the-rack guitars and basses in Fender’s most iconic shapes: the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster, Jazz Bass and Precision Bass. The updates are, as you’d probably expect, subtle. Fender are clever and careful with their classic models, never tampering too much with time-tested and widely loved designs — looking forward while respecting the heritage.

From Fender’s press release:

“Over the past few years, we have refined and elevated the American Professional series as a result of ongoing conversations with our artist partners. With their feedback and innovation a priority, we reviewed every element across the series, incorporating new specs like a new sculpted neck heel, new pickups, Super Natural neck finish, and various aesthetic refinements including bold colorways, tone woods like Roasted Pine and tortoise shell guards on select models. We stand behind all artists by providing them with the tools they need, no matter where they are creating or performing, and remain committed to making every great instrument even better through thoughtful innovation.” -Justin Norvell, EVP of Fender Products

There’s a number of enhancements that have been rolled out across the range, including a rolled edge on their classic C-shape neck and a new non-stick satin neck finish for a smoother ride up and down. The V-Mod single coil pickups have received some love, promising enhanced articulation, clarity and chime with a vintage warmth.  The Stratocaster HH, Stratocaster HSS and Telecaster Deluxe models feature multi-magnet Shawbucker Double Tap humbucking pickups for a more punchy tone.

And of course, what’s a new range without some new finishes? Miami Blue, Dark Night, 3-Color Sunburst, Mercury and Mystic Surf Green are the new colours, plus a number of model-specific finishes like the Strat’s Roasted Pine body/Rosewood neck combo.
