We generally think of synthesisers as being either monophonic or polyphonic, but there’s far more to this saga than you may have imagined. Marc Doty from Automatic Gainsay explains how even the term paraphonic is often improperly employed and we may need to extend our synthesis vernacular to accommodate the rapidly growing range of synths and their various forms of note articulation.
