If you’ve ever been in the market for a synth, drum machine or some kind of musical gadget, chances are you’ve come across Cuckoo’s videos on YouTube. The lovable Norwegian’s gear reviews, tutorials and general music nerdery have earned him over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, and this month Melburnians can pick his brain in the flesh.

He’s hitting Australia as part of Synthstrom’s world tour celebrating the launch of their record label ‘Release’, but Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) have gone and locked him into some intimate workshops while in Melbourne as well.

On Tuesday March 17, 2020 at MESS, Cuckoo will be going over his approach to sound design and sampling with the Elektron Octatrack, aiming to draw from an item (or two) in the MESS collection and go through his process on the fly. There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask Cuckoo your own questions. Tickets available here.

On Wednesday March 18, 2020, Cuckoo will be playing a live set at Loop Bar with Warplane and Ninoosh supporting. Prior to the show, he’ll be doing an hour workshop breaking down his techniques and setup used in his live set. Get there from 6pm if you’re keen for that. Tickets available here.

Cuckoo will also be featuring at Synthstrom’s showcase nights in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane:
