Arturia Spark v2.4 Software Update now Available

Arturia have released v2.4 of their long-running beat-programming and creation software – Spark. Designed to be used either as standalone software/plug-in or alongside it’s dedicated hardware controller SparkLE, Spark has remained an inexpensive cult favourite amongst producers and live performers since Spark was released in 2011. As well offering all the classic sounds and sequencing one would expect from a modern software beat lab, the Spark also a features an extraordinarily powerful, fully modular, sound design platform that came with v2.0 in 2014.

On the 2.4 update Arturia’s Director of Software Development, and former Spark Lead Developer, Kevin Molcard says “As Spark 2 just celebrated its fourth birthday, we wanted to give it the update it deserved. With version 2.4, my team and I refined its code and resolved dozens of intermittent issues to give users the best, most enjoyable Spark experience ever.”

“Dozens of intermittent issues” may be an understatement, the changelog on the 2.4 update is immense. It’s no secret the development of Spark seemed to have taken a back seat in Arturia’s product arsenal in recent times while the French manufacturer focused on their incredible new V Collection and hardware analogue synth range. But it looks like Spark is finally getting the attention it deserves, and initial feedback from the software update has been overwhelmingly positive, with users noting dramatic performance and stability improvements.

So if you have a SparkLE that you haven’t played with for a while, it may be time to whip it out again and sus this update. As the only hybrid controller/software set-up currently on the market that has a traditional TR-style sequencer, we think it still has a place in the production and live electronic martketplace.
