Heads up freak users – it’s time for the annual Microfreak firmware update! All thanks to its killer digital sound engine, the mighty Microfreak synth is the gift that keeps on giving. Arturia announce the fourth major firmware update since it was released back in 2018; introduces new presets, faster oscillator encoding, new unison and chord modes and most notably the option to upload your own custom wavetables and manipulate them. This is why we love digital synths: free awesome updates!
Here’s what’s new:
New Wave User Engine
Load your own wavetables in MicroFreak using the MIDI Control Center application. Add some harshness to these waveforms using the engine Bit Crusher.
Sequencer Unison & Chord Voices
Chord and Unison are now applied to sequences – previously they would only apply to notes that were played with the keys on top of the sequence, thank the lord!
Faster Oscillator Encoder Settings
Utility setting allows for a faster scan of those three parameters. Use Shift + those encoders for fine parameter tweak
64 New Presets
MIDI Control Center will come loaded with wavetables that musicians can pick and load into their MicroFreak.
As always Arturia have no trouble in producing new and creative ways to keep the ‘spice’ alive with the Microfreak. Some past favourites have been the exciting sound design collaborations with Noise Engineering to the more recent Vocoder mode and the introduction of a gooseneck microphone. This version update is free to download via Arturia’s website or the MIDI Control centre.
