Blackstar Carry-On ST Guitar: More Than a Mini Travel Guitar

Have you always wanted to sound like John Mayer, but quickly realised that that is far more work than you have the energy for? Well, you can at least look like him by simply playing a smaller guitar. And have we got just the axe for you!

Blackstar has just released the killer new ST-Carry On range of guitars and basses. Don’t let its diminutive size trick you into thinking they are just a gimmick! Blackstar has managed to make a guitar that is both easily portable, and easily playable! Fitted with a single mini-humbucker, a shorter 20.9-inch scale, and 18 frets — the ST-Carry On series will have you rocking out… well… anywhere!

In our first play of these, we were taken by the addition of the mini-humbucker. This is a less common pickup and its inclusion by Blackstar seems like a great way to appeal to players. Whilst a mini guitar such as this is a perfect couch-strummer, or child’s first instrument, or (of course) travel guitar, the mini-humbucker also makes it an excellent extra guitar in the arsenal for players looking for a slightly different tone!

So this is perfect if you’re a travelling musician, a tutor, or just have a small space. Since it is comfortable to play and simple to navigate the fretboard if you have smaller hands, the smaller scale is also perfect for younger players who are just getting started.
