Blackstar Unveils the Debut 100R Series: Pedal Platform Guitar Amps

Blackstar has just released its new Debut 100R amp series, a follow-up to the award-winning Debut 50R series. The new model establishes a new level for the series with more power and features than the successful Debut 50R. Let’s take a closer look at what makes the Debut 100R an essential piece in your rig.

All Tone, No Fuss?

Blackstar boasts that The Debut 100R is all about simplicity and tone. Available in both 1×12″ and 2×12″ combos, the Debut 100R uses a discrete MOSFET preamp to dish out those almighty valve-like tones necessary for serious gigging, rehearsals, and recording sessions. This marks it as a standout platform for pedal players who want a straightforward, powerful amp without unnecessary frills.

This amp series is available in two vintage stylings; cream covering with oxblood fret, or black and biscuit basketweave.

Key Features

  1. Two footswitchable channels: It easily changes from clean to overdrive, depending on how you want to play and the requirements of your song.
  2. ISF Patented Tone Control: The patented Blackstar Infinite Shape Feature enables the access of infinite sounds from British to American with just a simple twist of the knob.
  3. Power Reduction: Downscale to 5 watts for home practice while still maintaining that rich tone and feel of a higher wattage amp.
  4. Custom-voiced Digital Reverb: Add both space and depth with either a Hall or Plate reverb.
  5. Series Effects Loop: Integrate your favorite pedals seamlessly into your signal chain.
  6. Retro Styling: In traditional cream with oxblood fret or black with biscuit basket weave.

The MOSFET preamp is a standout feature, emulating the overdrive characteristics of valve amps with impressive accuracy. Blackstar’s design team has really fine-tuned this to make sure that the Debut 100R feels and sounds authentic to play through.

Versatility for All Settings

Features are not lacking on these new models. The speaker-emulated Line Out lets it work great for silent practice and going direct when you want to record. Power reduction ensures you can get those cranked-amp tones at more sensible volume levels—perfect for late-night practice sessions or small-venue gigging, really pouring out the energy without crushing skulls.
