Epiphone’s Jeff Beck Oxblood 1954 Les Paul offers players and collectors a faithful recreation of a guitar that left its mark on rock history. Based on Beck’s heavily modified 1954 Les Paul, which featured on the cover of his 1975 solo album Blow by Blow, this model combines vintage aesthetics with modern build quality. Developed in collaboration with Gibson Custom, the Oxblood Les Paul is part of Epiphone’s “Inspired by Gibson Custom” line, designed to bring classic instruments within reach for today’s guitarists.
Jeff Beck remains one of the most admired and influential guitarists of all time. From his early work with the Yardbirds to his solo career and collaborations with the Jeff Beck Group, Beck, Bogert & Appice, and countless others, he was known for pushing boundaries across genres—from rock and blues to jazz fusion. A master of tone and technique, Beck helped shape the modern sound of the electric guitar and was a key figure in popularising tools like feedback, fuzz, and distortion. He won eight GRAMMY® Awards, including six for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, and received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Beck was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice—once with the Yardbirds and again as a solo artist.
The original Oxblood Les Paul, immortalised on the cover of Blow by Blow, recently fetched $1.3 million at auction. Gibson Custom released a limited run of 50 aged replicas in 2009, which remain highly sought after by collectors. This Epiphone version continues that legacy, now in a more widely available form. The guitar includes period-accurate appointments such as gold Speed knobs, a Les Paul pickguard with a space above the bridge pickup, and a Gibson Historic Wraparound bridge. It also ships in an Epiphone hard-shell case with Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics, along with a vintage-style replica strap.
Only 20 units of the Epiphone Jeff Beck Oxblood 1954 Les Paul will be available in Australia, expected to arrive in early July 2025.
