Laney, Is There A Difference? We think so…The new engine delay pedal combines analogue, digital, and dynamic delay modes in a single item.
The Laney Difference Engine comes with 50 artist patches preloaded and has room for another 50 user patches. Tony Iommi, Lari Basilio, Tom Quayle, Martin Miller, Billy Duffy, Alex Hutchings, and Vernon Reid are among the artists’ presets.
Traditional tape delays, such as a Space Echo with wow and flutter, are available in Analogue mode. All of the effects in digital mode are from the 1980s, with up to 2500ms of delay time, as well as freeze and multi-tap modes. Finally, the Dynamic mode is a throwback to the 1990s, with modulated repeats, ducking, and phase reversal on repeats, similar to the TC Electronic 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay.
A 2.42″ OLED screen, full-sized MIDI in/out ports, and an expression pedal input are all included in this small delay pedal. Color, Tone, Mix, Repeats, and Edit settings are included on the pedal. There’s also a Menu and Mode button, as well as an On/Off and Tap/Freeze foot switch.
