Forgive me if I seem a little over excited here (not sorry), but how could I not be when our long awaited Korg MS-20 FS finally lands on the Noisegate office doorstep. As you can see, I wasted no time at all unboxing this full-sized reissue of Korg analogue synth royalty.
Announced back in 2020 at the winter NAMM show in the US, Korg have started rolling these out in Australia and are true to the original in every way (except these have MIDI and USB, yay!). If you’re bored by synths made in black, well you can choose from 3 other colourways: white, metallic blue or khaki. (I secretly love the look of the khaki too).
The MS-20 is one of those mono-synths that hits you right in the nostalgia-funny-bone as you ride that legendary cut-off filter and reminisce about all the legendary records made using this synth. Groups like The Prodigy, Daft Punk and Soul Wax were known to use this on their records along with artist like Jon Hopkins, Mr Ozio and the Chemical Brothers. The harmonically rich analogue tone of the MS-20 is unmistakable and whether you’re using it for leads or bass (or anything really) it will cut through you mix with ease.
These are available in Australia now, but get in quick, numbers are super limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone!
