Teenage Engineering has once again blurred the line between music gear, design object, and now—desktop PC hardware. Their latest creation is a Mini ITX computer case that looks less like a PC tower and more like something you’d find propped up in a synth boutique.
You know Teenage Engineering—these are the folks who gave us the OP-1, the PO series, and the EP-133 K.O. II. They’ve built a reputation for making gear that feels equal parts toy and tool, with a design language that could’ve come straight from a sci-fi movie. And now they’ve applied that same philosophy to the humble PC case.
Imagine taking your studio computer, usually some boring black rectangle humming away under the desk, and giving it the same kind of playful industrial design usually reserved for instruments. That’s what Teenage Engineering is offering here. It’s a Mini ITX case with aluminium panels, oversized handles, and the kind of rugged-yet-fun vibe that makes you want to show it off rather than hide it behind your monitors.
There’s something very “Teenage Engineering” about this move: take something utilitarian, like a computer case, and turn it into an object of desire. Will this make your tracks sound better? Probably not. Will it make your studio feel like a spaceship cockpit? Absolutely.
And let’s be real—if you’ve already fallen down the TE rabbit hole with the OP-1 or the Pocket Operators, this case is just another way of saying yes, my entire life is now curated by Scandinavian design philosophy.
The sad part is that this wonderful creation was SOLD OUT pretty much a day after it was launched… Hats off to TE on their design and Marketing skills, but maybe just give us more free stuff next time! 😊
