With these three new UA-FX pedals, Universal Audio continue to set the bar for future generations of music and audio professionals, just as it has done with its award-winning lineup of hardware, audio interfaces, plug-ins, and microphones.
Lets’s start with the Galaxy ‘74 Tape Echo & Reverb pedal. Universal Audio describes this pedal as a classic mid-’70s analog echo effects and spring reverb, tap tempo, adjustable real-time effects and oscillation sounds using the UAFX Control app. UA also claims it captures the warm, warped, relentlessly analog effects of the iconic mid-’70s Roland Space Echo* hardware, so it certainly whets the appetite to get hold of this pedal and give it a try. It also provides dub-heavy effects of the original’s spring reverb — along with a Dwell control for even more diallable sounds.
Next up is the Del-Verb Reverb pedal which contains six authentic vintage reverb and delay effects, tap tempo, downloadable custom voicings, and more via the UAFX Control app. Other notable inclusions with this pedal according to Universal Audio are the tube-driven springs of an American mid-’60s combo, the haunting sounds of a German plate reverb and the lushness of an ’80s digital studio classic, Del-Verb gives you the same reverb algorithms found in Golden Reverberator.
Finally, but not least is the appropriately named Max Preamp & Dual Compressor pedal. Why? because it’s a stereo dual compressor pedal with three iconic studio guitar effects, UA 610 tube preamp and EQ, customizable footswitches, and a sidechain bass filter via the UAFX Control app. How’s that for a mouth full?
Max also gives you the same UA 1176 FET compressor used on decades of legendary studio guitar sounds, warm tube compression with the Teletronix LA-2A optical tube limiter, plus, you can fine tune your compression with a pedal-exclusive Ratio feature, for limiting beyond the vintage hardware and UAD plug-in versions.
We can’t wait for these to arrive in Australia so that we can get these into our studio and give them a workout. As with the other UA-FX pedals released over the last couple of years, you can personalize your pedal with the UAFX Control app, where you can tweak EQ settings etc.
