Waves Audio, the company everyone knows for its audio software and hardware products, has launched an online mastering service powered by AI.
According to Waves Audio, based on a reference track you supply, Waves Online Mastering creates your master in the “Precise,” “Elevated,” or “Organic” styles.
The platform states that it would let you “create professional masters easily.” When you upload a track, the AI mastering engine will produce a “custom-tailored” “Precise” master for you to preview. Only once you agree to an export will you be charged.
As well as “advanced machine learning technology”, the AI mastering engine is also based on input from actual human experts in the field. These include Grammy-nominated, Nashville-based mastering engineer Piper Payne.
You can upload WAV, AIF, AIFF or MP3 formatted files with sample rates of 44.1, 48, 88.2 or 96 kHz and export them as either WAV or MP3.
In the past few years, there has been an increase in the number of AI-powered music production tools, particularly in mastering, with companies like LANDR, Soundcloud, Roex, Cloudbounce, and Masterchannel releasing their own AI-powered tools.
