UniSounds is back again with an enormous prize pool up for grabs. Previously known as the National Campus Band Competition which ran for more than 25 years, the rebranded UniSounds goes into 2019 as it’s third year of the new format and is open to tertiary students from more than 80 institutions around Australia and, for the first time, New Zealand.
Entrants simply need to upload a song to the UniSounds website and the panel of judges, including representatives from Dine Alone Records, Sony Music, Top Dog Group and Sounds Australia, will judge each track on four criteria:
- Songwriting & Lyrics
- Performance & Musicality
- Image & Presentation
- Commercial Viability & Relevance
The judges will choose four finalists, with a fifth chosen by the people, who will perform in front of the judges and punters to try to win the grand prize which includes an EP recording deal with Dine Alone Records (Alexisonfire, DZ Deathrays, Fidlar), a recording session with an ARIA award winning producer, a PR package and photoshoot, wardrobe package courtesy of Levi’s and Redback Boots, touring opportunities and industry networking.
Entries are open until August 1, 2019.
