Following its recently released iD44, Audient has unveiled its new 10 in/14 out audio interface, named the iD24. It boasts two Console Mic Preamps as seen on the flagship ASP8024-HE console, four outputs, ADAT expandability, and a built-in monitor controller in a compact desktop interface.
The two onboard microphone preamps come with switchable phantom power, -10dB pad, and high-pass filter functions present and the focus is on the interface’s converters, which utilise an internal 32-bit architecture and a dynamic range figure of 126dB.
The two analogue inputs are XLR/TRS combo sockets commonly used for microphone connectivity and can also take line-level signals. Additionally, a discrete JFET-based input is provided by a quarter-inch jack socket on the front of the device for instruments. There are also four line-level outputs with quarter-inch TRS connectors and the interface can then be expanded with an additional eight channels of I/O through a pair of Toslink connectors that offer both ADAT inputs and outputs. A Word Clock output is also available on a BNC connector.
The interface includes some monitor control features, including a big volume control, dedicated Dim and Cut buttons, and a trio of programmable buttons that can be set up to perform extra tasks like choosing a speaker, starting a talkback, inverting the polarity of the signal, and adding mono to the sound. On the front panel, there is a headphone output with dual connectors and a low-latency software mixer that provides cue-mixing capabilities and loop-back functionality.
The iD24 is also equipped with Audio Loop-back, giving you the ability to capture playback from multiple applications on your computer at the same time as your microphones, In simpler terms, it lets you create a custom audio feed ready to send to your streaming software making it ideal for content creators, podcasters and streamers.
The iD24 also operates at 24-bit and supports sample rates up to 96kHz. It connects to a host computer via a USB-C port, and is bus-powered.
