Dist COLDFIRE: Unique Dual Distortion Plug-in From Arturia

Arturia have just dropped Dist COLDFIRE, a creative dual-distortion effects plug-in that combines digital distortion with analogue valve overdrive. It sports a range of creative options not usually seen on distortion providing scope for some interesting sound design possibilities.

The dual module layout uses a blended source at the centre, where you can combine 2 of the 11 different types of distortion modules together to create unique hybrids. The types of distortion range from vintage overdrive from tape, tube, transistor modelling, wave shaping and folding to modern digital distortion like bit inverters. There are plenty of extended routing options including compression tools and unique features like Filtered Feedback Delay.

There’s flexible modulation providing lots of movement to any of Dist Coldfire’s parameters by modulating and controlling parameters with an extensive modulation matrix made up of multiple LFOs, envelopes and a sequencer.
