First Look Video: KORG Nu:Tekt NTS-1 Fully Programmable Mono Synthesiser

We had loads of fun assembling the Nu:Tekt NTS-1 synth at the Korg booth at the winter NAMM show in LA, but now we’re back and had some time to sit down and really discover what’s possible with this mini synth. Assembling your own synth is about as nerdy as it gets, but I’ll tell you what – it sure is fun.

The NTS-1 packs a powerful sound for its size, all thanks to the digital Multi-Engine, which also makes an appearance on the Minilogue xd and Prologue, so it’s clear that this is a serious synth. The Multi-Engine is compatible with Korg’s logue SDK (Software Development Kit ) and sound librarian, which means you can create and import your own custom oscillators, including those from a wide variety of developers around the world, expanding the possibilities way beyond the hardware.

Either way, the synth is vastly powerful for its size (and price), it features an analogue modelled multi-filter, 3 effects with multiple presets, MIDI in, clock in/out plus my favourite – an audio input, which essentially turns the NTS-1 into an external effects unit.
