Korg Grandstage: The Ultimate Stage Piano

Whilst the the Korg Grandstage is a beautifully designed stage piano, its looks belie is ability as an extremely powerful live performance tool.

Available in 88-key and 73-key version, the Grandstage marries essential performance features with the the incredible sounds of Korg’s flagship Kronos series synthesizers.

The SGX-2 Sound Engine

The Grandstage features six amazing sampled pianos thanks to the SGX-2 sound engines which contain high-capacity unlooped stereo samples for every key, and use up to 12 levels of velocity switching to perfectly convey the detailed and powerful expressiveness of an acoustic piano, extending to damper resonance that reproduces the spaciousness felt when the pedal is pressed, and even mechanical noise.

There are six pianos in total from Berlin, Heidelberg, Austria, Japan, as well as a newly sampled Italian grand piano, and a brand new sampled upright piano.

At the request of numerous professional players, the Grandstage also provides monaural piano sounds for all of these acoustic piano programs. Furthermore, these mono piano sounds were voiced from monaurally recorded sources rather than by tweaking the existing stereo recordings.

You can listen to the SGX-2 pianos on the Korg Soundcloud page.

Not Just Piano Sounds…

In addition, the Grandstage features an incredible library of electric piano and organ sounds thanks to the EP-2, CX-3, Vox, and Compact engines.

These engines give the Grandstage 500 different sound programs but it doesn’t stop there. Also included are the AL-1 analog modelling sound engine that excels at thick brass sounds and well defined reeds. The HD-1 is a PCM sound engine with brilliantly sampled keyboard instruments, including an eight-level multi-sampled clavinet, harpsichord, mellotron, pipe organ, and the distinctive sound of an FM piano.

You can hear sound demos of all these engines on the Korg Soundcloud page.
