Korg USA have announced the acquisition of historic bass brand Spector Basses. Just in time for NAMM 2019, this move can only be positive for Spector with already talks of expanding ranges in the Korean made Legend series and further distribution opportunities in the Euro series out of Czech Republic. Business will continue as usual from the Woodstock USA workshop, this is where Spector’s flagship basses are handmade to order with the finest quality of woods and electronics.
Who are Spector Basses?
Stuart Spector has been making bass guitars since the 70’s, working closely with friend Ned Steinberger they created the classic ‘NS’ curved body shape design. This original body design has been iconic moving forward for the brand with many bass companies imitating but never capturing the essence of the design. Spector now make basses out of USA, Czech & Korea at varying price points. The brand has attracted endorsing artists such as Sting, Doug Wimbish & Bryan Beller.
A word from Korg USA
“We’ve been the distributor for four years and we knew the history and potential of this iconic brand. We also knew we could drive the future growth and expansion of the brand as an owner. Once Stuart Spector decided the time was right to entrust us with the operation of his legacy brand, we worked out the acquisition and are now proud owners” Joe Castronovo, President of KORG USA, Inc.
“When the time came to transition to the next phase of life for the Spector brand, choosing KORG USA was an emotional and simple decision all at once. With the team in place at KORG USA, Inc., we are leaving the Spector brand in the best of hands and I am excited to see what the future holds” remarked company founder Stuart Spector.
KORG USA, Inc. based in New York, is now the worldwide headquarters for Spector basses.
