Melbourne’s Getting a Brand New 3000 Capacity Live Music Venue

Melbourne’s live music scene has just received a major boost with the announcement that the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) will be launching a 3000 capacity venue that will be housed in the exhibition bays of the building.

There will be staging and lighting and as part of MCEC recent investment, an Adamson Audio System will be installed to transform the space into a concert production venue that will cater to varying live music productions.

MCEC Chief Executive Peter King said “we’ve hosted countless live music events in our Plenary and know we have the cutting edge technology and expertise to bring these events to life. Expanding our options for ticketed events is a natural progression, Melbourne’s been losing some of those spaces, and we’re looking at where we can fill the gaps. Whoever you’re planning to put under the spotlight, we have the support, space and experience to ensure your event stands out from the crowd.”

Currently, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s Plenary venue has a seated capacity of 5,500 people so this new 3000 capacity venue will certainly place MCEC as a live music entertainment hub in the city’s precinct.
