Moog Announce Spectravox Eurorack Analogue Synth

Say hello to Spectravox, the newest addition to Moog’s Eurorack format of synths.  Fans of this format will be pleased as it maintains that gorgeous eurorack design aesthetics and timber panelling, but hey this is not your average processor—it’s a whole new world of sonic exploration packed into one funky machine.

Ok so now for the nitty-gritty: Spectravox features a VCO and white noise generator as sound sources, along with 10 variable resonance voltage-controlled filters (1 Low-Pass, 8 Bandpass, 1 High-pass), a VCA envelope generator (Decay), and multiple input options via XLR and 3.5mm jacks. Its patchbay is packin 36 3.5mm jacks, including 19 inputs and 17 outputs.

However Spectravox isn’t just about filters and sweeps—it’s also a legit analog vocoder that’s here to party. Plug in a microphone and watch as Spectravox works its magic, adding depth and character to your sounds with its unique modulation features.

Inspired by the legends like Bob Moog and Wendy Carlos, Spectravox is a nod to the past with its eyes set firmly on the future. Spectravox operates as an intriguing standalone synthesizer voice, incorporating a built-in carrier sound source consisting of an analog Moog oscillator and white noise generator. When connected via its combo XLR/jack program input, Spectravox transforms into a 10-band vocoder, complete with a secondary filter bank for analyzing incoming sounds. In VOCODER mode, its 10 analysis filters effectively map the tonal qualities of any external sound onto another, offering users the ability to manipulate the warm analog oscillator with vocal dynamics or add dynamic percussive elements to guitar chords using a drum machine.
