Berlin-based studio monitor manufacturer EVE Audio have roared in with the announcement of their new 3-way monitor the SC3070. Boasting some of the same high-end features seen in their larger SC407 4-way system but in a beautifully compact cabinet, which oozes EVE Audio class.
EVE Audio has steadily made and earned their way into the upper echelon of the studio monitor world with some superb designs from super-compact 2-way near fields, to much larger mid – far-field 4-way systems that push some serious air. The freshly announced SC3070 appear to sit rather nicely in the middle of the existing range with a tri-amplified design with 185 watts of Class D power going to the 6.5” woofer, 100 watts to the 4” midrange driver and 50 watts to the tweeter, with is, of course, their coveted AMT (Air Motion Transformer) RS3 Ribbon tweeter. Frequency range (-3dB) is a very respectable 35Hz – 21kHz. Appears to be lots of firepower all be it in a wonderfully compact form factor.
The SC3070 is said to reproduce the same detailed midrange as its larger SC407 sibling, which is defined, well balanced and un-hyped. Both the midrange and bass drivers are the same Silvercone drivers as found in the existing family of EVE Audio monitors, so those already familiar shouldn’t be thrown off upon listening. The same BurrBrown AD converter takes care of the DSP side of things with a conversion rate of 24bit/192kHz. Classic high-quality EVE Audio here folks.
We see these being a hit for those recording, mixing and mastering engineers whose studio real estate is limited but still would require the benefits a 3-way near/midfield monitor has to offer. We’re looking forward to hearing them in the flesh.
