NAMM 2021 Booth Report: Korg
Given the atypical nature and undeniably subdued ‘virtual’ format of this year’s NAMM show, many brands have in turn limited their involvement, forgoing the hype of new product announcements and marketing fanfare. Korg however are not one of those brands choosing to instead seize the opportunity and unload a host of high profile new products onto the unsuspecting public.
The first wave of announcements came in at the start of the week with the ARP2600M synth module, modwave wavetable synth and miniKORG 700FS analog synthesiser, as well as an updated USB equipped LP-380 digital piano, wooden stand for the SV-2 and the GM-1 group metronome.
Then, just as we thought we’d seen it all, Korg dropped a second round of announcements consisting of the drumlogue hybrid drum machine, Wavestate SE 61 key synth with aftertouch, Gadget VR virtual reality DAW and L1 digital piano.
Needless to say there’s a lot to take in here and you have to hand it to Korg for almost single handedly keeping spirit of NAMM alive in 2021. Whatever happens this year, you can take comfort in knowing some super cool music gear is right around the corner. Short of some unforeseen horrific incident that is.
