Ernie Ball Music Man has introduced the Kaizen, an all-new electric guitar built in partnership with Animals As Leaders maestro Tosin Abasi, for this year’s NAMM.
Abasi was asked on board to assist create a seven-string guitar that might cater to the modern-minded player. Abasi is no stranger to inventive guitar designs, having started his own brand, Abasi Concepts.
The Kaizen was created with Abasi’s goal to “push the instrument further” at the forefront of its design. It’s vital to note that this isn’t an Abasi signature, but rather a brand-new Music Man model.

The Kaizen is built around an alder body, roasted maple neck, and ebony fretboard, with a multi-scale design that ranges from 24.75″ at the high E to 25.5″ at the low E.
The neck has an Infinity Radius, which is a strategically placed conical radius that is said to improve overall playing comfort while also increasing fretboard vision.
A unique Heat Treated humbucker in the bridge position and a slanted neck mini-humbucker, both particularly built for the Kaizen, are also included. The HT pickups are a brand-new, patent-pending Ernie Ball invention for 2022, promising more output, improved touch sensitivity, and a more powerful bottom response.
A new Music Man tremolo system ties it all together, with spring dampeners to reduce undesirable overtones – an unusual addition for multi-scale guitars.
