Sample Libraries: How to Create your Own
As a producer, engineer and studio musician, Robert Dudzic has spent the last 15 years designing and composing music and sound effects for a myriad of projects and a lot of work with Sample Libraries that composers, producers and deejays around the world use constantly to create their own masterful work. So as you can imagine that Robert has an extensive sound effects library, so when he has some tips on “spooky”sound design its worthwhile checking out. Sure you can grab library effects and libraries from other sources, but it’s a lot more fun to record your own.
Robert takes us out in the field with a Tascam Hand Held Recorder and RODE Microphones to record some sounds from everyday objects, factories, industrial sites, tools and anything else imaginable. There is also a glimpse on recording some musical instruments in ways that they were not designed to sound and then shows us what happens to the palette of samples when he enters the studio.
In his studio, Robert primarily uses Steinberg Cubase, Native Instruments Maschine, and Komplete Kontrol with KONTAKT amongst other production tools.
Hopefully this inspires you to get out and about to sample and create your own “Spooky” Sample Library:
