With the release of Ableton Live 11.2 comes helpful updates, compatibility enhancements, and an enhanced Reverb device.
One of the most significant revisions is AUv3 plugin support for macOS 10.15 or later. This is relevant to products like the Minimoog, Model 15, and Animoog Z from Moog. In Ableton’s preferences, AUv2 and AUv3 plugins can both be made available. Additionally, the support for Control Surfaces has been enhanced, with quantise settings for Novation Launchkey MK3 and navigation enhancements for PreSonus ATOM SQ.
Ableton’s built-in Reverb device has also been improved; it now has a brand-new user interface, better CPU optimisation, and new sonic edibility. Users can now specify how the Size parameter reacts when edited with the Smooth options, namely None, Slow, or Fast, thanks to the addition of a Smooth dropdown menu to the device’s parameter adjustments.
This update represents Ableton’s ongoing commitment to improving its workflow and placing its users first, even though it is more of a refinement than a renovation. Ableton Live 11 launched with a number of new MIDI and audio devices, as well as a probability editor for MIDI and MPE support.
These are just some of the tasty updates, for the full list of Ableton Live 11.2 updates, check out the release notes on Ableton’s website.
