The much-loved Logic Pro audio interface will now be available on the iPad, according to a statement from Apple. Final Cut Pro, their video editing app, is also made public as part of the release and will also be accessible on iPad. But Final Cut Pro can only be used with iPad models with the M1 chip or later, and Logic Pro will only be available on iPad models with the A12 Bionic chip or later.
Logic Pro has been modified to work with Multi-Touch gestures, including pinch-to-zoom and swipe-to-scroll, to make it more iPad-friendly. Apple claims that enabling more intuitive app use will make it much simpler for users to create music.
Instead of using an interface, users can record directly into Logic using the built-in speaker on their iPad. Additionally, the updated app now provides a brand-new sound browser that uses filtering to assist musicians in finding sounds.
Here from Apple:
“We’re excited to introduce Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad, allowing creators to unleash their creativity in new ways and in even more places,” says Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With a powerful set of intuitive tools designed for the portability, performance, and touch-first interface of iPad, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro deliver the ultimate mobile studio.
With the Apple Pencil, creators can also make edits and sketch out intricate track automation. They can also use key commands to speed up production by connecting a Smart Keyboard Folio or Magic Keyboard.
There will be a full-featured mixer with options to create a professional-sounding mix, as well as a variety of beat-making and production tools, just like the standard Logic application used on Macs and MacBooks.
Finally, regarding import and export, the Logic Pro app supports roundtrip capabilities, meaning that you can move projects between Mac, and iPad.
Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro for iPad will be available from 23 May, for either a monthly or yearly payment including a one-month free trial.
